Progress over the Winter The Gut froze but FOWIL committees kept right on working. Our beautiful website has gotten spruced up for functionality and a Web Team has been formed to keep the site updated. When you need to know something about Island Tours, Fresh Paint Day or meeting announcements, you will be able to find answers on our Website. |
From the Executive Committee GoMoos --- What is it???? GoMoos stands for Gulf of Maine Ocean Observing System. This is a national pilot program designed to bring hourly oceanographic data from the Gulf of Maine to all those who need it, such as: Commercial Mariners Coastal Resource Managers Search and Rescue and Emergency Response Teams Wood Island will host a CODAR (Coastal Ocean Dynamics Application Radar) which will map ocean currents hourly. FOWIL looks forward to having a cooperative relationship with this modern navigation aid to mariners. It is the natural extension of the purpose and function of lighthouses. PUT SUNDAY JULY 10TH (RAIN DATE JULY 17TH) ON YOUR CALENDAR FOR FRESH PAINT DAY
Watch the Newsletter for information on how to volunteer for this fun event.
