Tours have ended for 2024. Reservations for tours in July and August 2025 will open June 1st 2025.
A guided tour to Wood Island Lighthouse is run by the Friends of Wood Island Lighthouse, a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The lighthouse is located off the coast of Biddeford, Maine, and tours leave from Vine’s Boat Landing in Biddeford Pool. The guided tour, led by volunteer docents, takes about 1 3/4 hours and is subject to Mother Nature and her weather and sea conditions.
When are the tours?
The tours are held only in July and August. Check the reservation page for tour dates and times.
Is the tower open on the tours?
Yes, the tower is open to those who wish to make the climb to the top, though only those who are 10 years old and older are allowed up. Those who wish to access the tower, must read and follow the Tower Rules.
How do I get on a tour?
Online reservations are required for all of our lighthouse tours. Reservations may be made through this website starting on or about June 1 of each year. This line is staffed entirely by volunteers, please leave your name and number and someone will call you back.
Is there a charge for the tour?
The fees for our tours are $35.00 for guests 13 years of age and above and $20.00 for those under 13 years of age. Most credit cards are accepted. The reservation system also can accommodate discount codes that may be offered from time to time and gift certificates purchased for tours.
